Volunteer Opportunities in Your Community
Since 1977, nonprofit organizations have relied on the Volunteer Center to match the needs in the community with interested volunteers. The center works to ensure that groups and individuals find appropriate volunteer opportunities beneficial to them and nonprofit organizations. For more information on volunteer opportunities in our community, call the Volunteer Center at 523-9131.
We rely on hundreds of volunteers to represent United Way during the year, in fund-raising and allocations roles. Fund-raising volunteers assist with the annual campaign, and allocations volunteers make sure your dollars are well-spent.
If you are interested in working with United Way on the fund-raising side or the allocations (fund distribution) side, contact us and we will put you to work.
We also coordinate volunteers with various agencies and their needs through the Volunteer Center. If you have a specific interest or talent, we will connect you to someone who can use your direct help.
As of 2006, the center has expanded to include an online system for matching potential volunteers with nonprofit agencies. The website, www.volunteersolutions.org, enables any interested individual with internet access to search for volunteer opportunities throughout the area. The individuals benefit from the streamlined search process and the nonprofit organizations involved benefit through increased exposure and referral numbers. Agencies registered on the site receive thousands of web hits a year and numerous referrals.
