There are over 1,300 United Ways across the country. Each are local, autonomous organizations with their own governing Board of Directors.

United Way of Greater Knoxville is not a chapter but is a dues paying affiliate of United Way of America. Decisions are made locally in each community by volunteers.

United Way of America, as the national trade association, provides training opportunities for staff and volunteers and national marketing opportunities as evident in our relationship with the National Football League.

United Way of America works with national corporations facilitating campaigns in communities where they do business.
