UPS AND FEDEX GO UP TO BAT FOR UNITED WAY

In their first annual charity softball game, two shipping and packaging giants, UPS and FedEx, will team up to raise funds for United Way of Greater Knoxville’s 2007 campaign. The event is scheduled for Saturday, October 20 at Inskip Ball Field with a 10 a.m. co-ed game and a noon men’s game. In addition, there will be a kids’ zone on an adjacent field for kids age 10 and under.

“Both UPS and FedEx are very supportive of United Way’s work in communities all across America,” said Karen Rose, event organizer. “We wanted to plan a fun day where we could encourage families to get involved to help us raise money for a great cause with a little “friendly” competition. With the help of local businesses, we hope to make this tournament a success and a yearly event and continue to do our part to strengthen the programs United Way offers to people in our community.”

Tickets will be available the day of the event. Admission is $5 for adults and children. In addition, refreshments and t-shirts will be available for purchase.
