UNITED WAY OF GREATER KNOXVILLE ENCOURAGES COMMUNITY
INVOLVEMENT
United Way of Greater Knoxville is seeking individuals
who want to get involved in making Knoxville a better
community, announcing today that recruitment for allocations
volunteers has begun.
Throughout the year, nearly 200 volunteers from Knoxville
and Knox County work diligently to visit more than 145
health and human service programs funded by United Way.
In the spring, they review funding requests and distribute
the dollars raised where they will get the greatest
results. The "allocations" or fund distribution
process runs from July to the end of February and helps
insure that your gift to United Way is working to build
a stronger community.
Rosalyn Tillman of Pellissippi State Technical Community
College will serve as the chairman of the 2006-2007
Allocations Committee.
"With United Way's new focus on helping people
achieve self-sufficiency, we are excited about the potential
for making an even greater impact in Knoxville,"
Tillman said. "One of my goals for allocations
would be to increase the number of volunteers involved
in the decision-making process. More people would then
realize the stewardship and care that goes into investing
the community's money."
Allocations is open to anyone living or working in Knox
County. For more information or to volunteer, call United
Way at (865) 523-9131 and ask for a member of the Community
Impact staff.
