UNITED WAY OF GREATER KNOXVILLE TEAMS WITH CENTER FOR NONPROFITS TO HOST NATIONALLY ACCLAIMED AUTHOR

United Way of Greater Knoxville and the Center for Nonprofits, Chattanooga, are hosting author and relationship coach Marshall Howard and his popular “Transactions to Connections” learning events tin Knoxville, Wednesday, June 4 and Thursday, June 5, 2008.

Based on the principles in his acclaimed “learning novel,” Let’s Have Lunch Together, these workshops focus on the single most important ingredient in fund and board development – building collaborative relationships.

Ben Landers, President and CEO of United Way, believes that all fundraisers and staff who interact with volunteers and donors, will find the workshop techniques practical and useful in their fundraising efforts.

“Developing and maintaining relationships is extremely important in the nonprofit world and is a crucial component of success today.  Marshall Howard gives much-needed insight into the how-to’s of relationship-building,” said Landers.  “People who are new to development find this workshop transforming, and those with experience will find some great takeaways, too.”

These step-by-step, highly interactive workshops show participants how to raise the money and resources they need through their board and volunteers with a proven, relationship-centered cultivation program.

“At our recent workshop in Chattanooga, Marshall presented a practical, relationship-centered method to identify and cultivate leaders, without spending tons of extra time, money or making big changes,” Hatcher said.

The two-day workshop, open to the public, will be held at the United Way of Greater Knoxville, 1301 Hannah Avenue.   Tuition includes one copy of Let’s Have Lunch Together, continental breakfast, lunch and refreshment breaks.
