2007 KNOXVILLE YOUTH SUMMIT OFFERS TEENS A CHANCE TO TAKE ACTION!
United Way of Greater Knoxville, along with the City of Knoxville and Knox County Mayors' Youth Action Council, will host the Knoxville Youth Summit Saturday, March 31st from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Emerald Youth Foundation, 1718 N. Central Street. A premiere event for youth, by youth, the summit is an opportunity for high school students to come together and take action on issues facing teens today.
With the theme One Day, One Purpose, One Message. Take Action! the 2007 Youth Summit will be a day to celebrate the tremendous impact of youth volunteerism in our community. Students will participate in a number of hands-on community service projects to help benefit programs like the Teacher Supply Depot, Knox County’s Imagination Library, My Village Child Development Center and Wesley House Community Center among others. Youth will also learn more about community activism through round table discussions with community leaders including School Board, County Commission, and City Council Members.
You can download registration forms for the youth summit online or call 523-9131, ext. 246 for more information. The summit is a free event open to teens ages 14-18. Advanced registration is required to attend and youth groups, school clubs and classes are encouraged to register together. Deadline for registration is Monday, March 26th.
