Haiti Disaster Relief Fund
In the wake of Haiti’s devastating earthquake on Tuesday, January 12, United Way has organized a way to give back through the Haiti Disaster Relief Fund. No overhead or administrative fees will be deducted so that 100% of all donations will reach the victims and relief efforts in Haiti.
Gifts to the fund support long-term recovery efforts to rebuild lives and infrastructure devastated by disaster and to address education, financial and health-related challenges.

You can also text UNITED to 40579 for a $5.00 donation that will be added to the person’s current month’s cell phone bill (standard fees and text messaging rates apply).
10 percent of Tennessee families don’t have bank accounts
One out of every 10 Tennessee households (approximately 249,000 households) doesn’t have a bank or credit union account, and those going without are more likely to be minority and low-income consumers, according to a report published in December by the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation.

Student Change Drive Makes Big Impact
on Local Community
United Way of Greater Knoxville (UWGK) is pleased to announce that Knox County School students raised $29,131.51 in spare change to be invested into the local community during the 4 Weeks 4 Change fundraising drive.
The funds will be included in UWGK’s combined fundraising effort for 2009 and allocated to over 45 partner agencies throughout the Knoxville community.
