United Way of Greater Knoxville, Inc. (UWGK) is a not-for-profit organization exempt from income tax under section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code and provides supporting services and other assistance to public and private agencies and community organizations to meet the human service needs of the general public of Knox County. UWGK is a local autonomous organization governed by a local board of directors and operates under charitable solicitation permits issued by the City of Knoxville (33P) and the State of Tennessee (26).

UWGK deducts 12% of the total amount pledged to UWGK supported programs to cover fundraising and year-round administration costs. UWGK pays annual dues of 1% to United Way of America and 0.138% to United Ways of Tennessee. If you choose to designate your gift, UWGK may charge up to an additional 10% of collected designated pledges for processing and distribution.
